Inspiring Enterprise Project
Inspiring Enterprise is a free training and support programme that aims to get people who are out of work into self employment as a social entrepreneur or traditional start-up business.
The Inspiring Enterprise programme, part of the national Building Better Opportunities scheme, supports those looking to set up a social enterprise or other small business. The programme is being delivered by Action Hampshire, Surrey Community Action and University of Winchester, with WSX Enterprise as the lead partner.
What we are offering
Action Hampshire is leading on support for people who’d like to explore setting up a social enterprise, to change things for the better in people and communities. Through our School for Social Entrepreneurs Hampshire we have several years of experience in delivering social enterprise support in Hampshire. We have seen the great power of social enterprise to bring positive change to individuals and communities.
Thanks to a significant grant from the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund we are able to offer this programme completely free of charge. You can take part in a series of training workshops that will cover all you need to know about setting up your own social enterprise. This includes generating ideas, marketing techniques, financial and management business planning, and legal / governance advice. We can also link you up with other budding and experienced social entrepreneurs, for mutual support with peers and mentoring from those further along in the journey.
If you are not in paid work of any kind (this includes zero-hours contracts) or your organisation works with such people, then please get in touch to explore how we can work with you. Email us or call 01962 854971.
You can download the intro flyer below which explains what we are offering to organisations and their beneficiaries / clients, and we’ve got a series of postcards aimed at potential participants. Let us know if you’d like some!
Where we are operating
The whole Inspiring Enterprise programme covers the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) area, which is shown on the map below (shaded in grey, but ignore the circle for Southampton). Our work, promoting and developing social enterprise with out-of-work people, covers the Hampshire parts of this area, which means everywhere covered by Hampshire County Council except the stretch from the New Forest Waterside (around Marchwood and Hythe) heading east through Southampton, Eastleigh, Fareham, Portsmouth, and Havant.
Here we are at one of our workshops. Why not join in?
