A career launchpad

“I couldn’t have asked for a better start in the not-for-profit sector than my graduate internship with Action Hampshire.” Emma Gilhespy

Emma Gilhespy had recently graduated, and knew that she wanted a career in the not-for-profit sector. She secured Action Hampshire’s paid graduate intern post, and spent a year with us.

“I was able to gain a good understanding of the structure of a charity, about the organisation’s governance and about its daily procedures. Action Hampshire offered me many opportunities to further my knowledge, ask as many questions as I needed to and to get involved in some enriching activities that have helped to progress my career.”

Emma went on to get a permanent position with UK Youth. She said “At Action Hampshire I was given the freedom to explore areas of charity work that I was passionate about and I know that this has really aided me with job applications and interviews since then. I’m sure I wouldn’t have been offered my current role without the experience given to me by Action Hampshire.”
