Funding update for community halls and buildings

A round-up of new grant schemes and funding news

The Prince’s Countryside Fund opens again for applications from 30 April to 14 June. The Fund aims to support ‘activity that results in a long-term positive impact on rural communities by helping the people that live and work in the countryside’. See the Fund website for more details.

Another scheme opening again soon (24 April – 22 May) is the Community Business Fund, offering grants of £50,000 – £300,000. One of the four hallmarks of a community business is ‘trading for the benefit of the local community’. Hiring rooms counts as trading, so community centres / halls can qualify as community businesses. The Fund is for corporate bodies only, though, so village hall unincorporated trusts and unincorporated community associations are not eligible.
