Share ideas with fellow trustees and managers

Running a community hall or centre can be lonely work.

If you’re the only paid staff member then a lot of the work and responsibility might be resting on your shoulders. If you’re a trustee then you might feel it’s up to you and your fellow committee members to keep things running, with very little help from the wider community. We can help.

Connect online

If your organisation is an Action Hampshire member, then you can use our online message board to connect and mutually support your peers across the county.

Would you like some pointers towards fire safety advisers, architects, or electricians? Do you have fundraising ideas and want to see how others have got on with similar events? Now you can – through our Basecamp account. Just email us and we’ll invite you to join.

Connect face to face

We work with the Councils of Voluntary Service and district / borough councils across Hampshire to run regular events where you can meet and share ideas with other people running community halls and centres.

There are meetings every 3 months or so in each part of the county, so make sure you are signed up for our email bulletins to get news of forthcoming events. Full listings are here (scroll down to ‘Community buildings forums’) and here’s what is coming up soon:

  • Pamber parish council were really pleased with the support provided by Action Hampshire’s Rural Housing Enabler helping us through the development process. It was a good experience.

    Chris Goss, Pamber Parish Council
  • Action Hampshire has always been a useful font of information for us at Winchester Churches Nightshelter. Sue has always been really helpful, and I do find the updates from the ‘wider’ world to be of interest.

    Michèle Price, Winchester Churches Nightshelter
  • Having Action Hampshire as a point of reference, support and guidance is invaluable for small to medium sized charities like ourselves. Without them, we would be far less connected and less able to serve our beneficiaries in a meaningful and coordinated way.

Juno Hollyhock, The Rose Road Association
  • I have found Action Hampshire to be truly innovative and forward thinking in their approach to their work and their passion for the voluntary and community sector is easily measured through their work to help improve the lives of all sections of the community.

Grant Cornwell, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation
  • Action Hampshire are the most fantastic organisation and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with them. They are very positive and easy to work with, from Rachel’s warmth on the front desk all the way up to Sue’s vast knowledge and experience on the top floor.

    George Scott-Welsh, IncuHive
