Member of the Month // Sandleheath Village Hall

Sandleheath is a rural village, formally a brick-making centre, located to the west of Fordingbridge. Its village hall has become the focal point in the community for young families, and also an above-average elderly population.

Unlike neighbouring parishes, Sandleheath has no communal meeting place and so the registered charity Sandleheath Village Hall, has taken a 25-year lease on the vacant St. Aldhelm’s building in the village. The community hall provides space for activities, clubs and private hire. They aim to raise £150,000 to fully refurbish the building and convert it into a contemporary village hall and much-needed community centre, with disabled facilities.

So far, through generous municipal and commercial grants, coupled with their local fundraising efforts, they have acquired £80,000, but they now need to raise the remainder!

How can you help?

Are you looking to improve your skills?
Sandleheath particularly encourage youth volunteers. Helping the village hall is a great way to get involved in your community and, if you’re looking for work, such charity volunteering looks great on your CV!

Are you looking for a venue?
The hall is open and available for hire! For further information and to book visit the bookings page on their website.

Would you like to contribute to preserving a beautiful building at the heart of your community?
Sandleheath village hall warmly welcome any possible donations to contribute to the refurbishment appeal, you can do this by visiting the donation page on their website.

  • Pamber parish council were really pleased with the support provided by Action Hampshire’s Rural Housing Enabler helping us through the development process. It was a good experience.

  • Action Hampshire has always been a useful font of information for us at Winchester Churches Nightshelter. Sue has always been really helpful, and I do find the updates from the ‘wider’ world to be of interest.

  • Having Action Hampshire as a point of reference, support and guidance is invaluable for small to medium sized charities like ourselves. Without them, we would be far less connected and less able to serve our beneficiaries in a meaningful and coordinated way.

Juno Hollyhock, The Rose Road Association
  • I have found Action Hampshire to be truly innovative and forward thinking in their approach to their work and their passion for the voluntary and community sector is easily measured through their work to help improve the lives of all sections of the community.

Grant Cornwell, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation
  • Action Hampshire are the most fantastic organisation and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with them. They are very positive and easy to work with, from Rachel’s warmth on the front desk all the way up to Sue’s vast knowledge and experience on the top floor.
