Intermediate/Advanced Social Media course

Are you trying to make the world a better place? Do you want to get your organisation heard more effectively? Join Action Hampshire and communications consultancy 92 Minutes for four practical training sessions helping you boost your social media knowledge, skills and confidence.

The four sessions build on each other and together make up the course, so please ensure that you are available for all of them: they run every Wednesday morning, from the 21st April to the 12th May.

The pandemic has shown that digital presence and social media are vital ways of keeping in touch with your audience and supporters.

Who is this course aimed at?
Voluntary sector staff and volunteers who are keen to develop their social media skills to a more professional level. You are likely to be quite active on social media, but want to take the next step into social marketing activities. You want to feel more confident that you are ‘doing it right’ and maximising the impact of your social media usage.

What to expect
This course will be practical, conversational, enabling and fast paced. It will include exercises creating real work in each session, that you will be able to use in your work immediately and build on later. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions throughout and dedicated Q&A time at the end of each session. You will be able to work on what you develop between sessions and bring back questions regarding the work to the following sessions.

Cost – £100. We’ll send you an invoice before the course starts. Action Hampshire members receive discounts on training. If you’re a member we’ll send you an invoice for the discounted amount. Our premium members are eligible for one free training session for 1 delegate per annum. If you’d like to redeem this offer for this session, please email [email protected]. If you’re not already a member, you can find out more here.

It’s easy to book, just click here. There are 16 places on the course. If the places are all taken by the time you come to book, please email [email protected] and Rosie will put you on the waiting list. We’ll send joining instructions, including the Zoom link nearer the time.

Session 1. 21st April. 9.30-12.30 with Q&A from 12.30 – 13.00
Your audience. Before you write a tweet or Facebook post, or upload a picture to Instagram, you need to understand who you are talking to, what they care about, and why anything you say is going to be important to them. So, this session will focus on understanding your audience, both who that might be now, and who you want it to be. This will cover analytics around how to find the best times to post, and how to check the success of your posts.

Session 2. 28th April. 9.30-12.30 with Q&A from 12.30 – 13.00
You. Now you know who you are talking to, and when you are going to talk to them, let’s think about you. What do you want people to know about you, what are your key messages, what’s special about you? This will look at developing a sense of your brand, your tone, voice, which images you would use etc.

Session 3. 5th May. 9.30-12.30 with Q&A from 12.30 – 13.00
Tools. There are masses of tools out there, some free, some paid, all saying that they will help you schedule posts, analyse them and more. We’ll explore some of the market leading scheduling tools, look at sourcing and creating images and look at some free and paid ways of doing things.

Session 4. 12th May. 9.30-12.30 with Q&A from 12.30 – 13.00
Planning can help you turn just a few hours a week into a vibrant social media presence,. It can help you write once and use it in different places. We’ll look at creating and using content calendars, and mapping social media into a broader marketing mix, including repurposing content for newsletters, blogs, event posts, printed collateral and more.

  • Pamber parish council were really pleased with the support provided by Action Hampshire’s Rural Housing Enabler helping us through the development process. It was a good experience.

    Chris Goss, Pamber Parish Council
  • Action Hampshire has always been a useful font of information for us at Winchester Churches Nightshelter. Sue has always been really helpful, and I do find the updates from the ‘wider’ world to be of interest.

    Michèle Price, Winchester Churches Nightshelter
  • Having Action Hampshire as a point of reference, support and guidance is invaluable for small to medium sized charities like ourselves. Without them, we would be far less connected and less able to serve our beneficiaries in a meaningful and coordinated way.

Juno Hollyhock, The Rose Road Association
  • I have found Action Hampshire to be truly innovative and forward thinking in their approach to their work and their passion for the voluntary and community sector is easily measured through their work to help improve the lives of all sections of the community.

Grant Cornwell, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation
  • Action Hampshire are the most fantastic organisation and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with them. They are very positive and easy to work with, from Rachel’s warmth on the front desk all the way up to Sue’s vast knowledge and experience on the top floor.

    George Scott-Welsh, IncuHive
