High Sheriff Community Awards for those going beyond the ‘call of duty’

High Sheriff of Hampshire Mark Thistlewayte to honour good work of those enhancing safety and cohesion in local communities

The High Sheriff of Hampshire 2018-19 Mark Thistlethwayte is calling for public servants, individuals, volunteers, charities and community groups to submit their entries for this years’ High Sheriff Community Award, which aim to make the county a better and safer place for all residents.

The High Sheriff, Mark Thistlethwayte, said:

“The awards are to honour those who deserve special recognition for their good work and who go beyond the call of duty in their everyday activities, in the area of law and order related projects that enhance safety and cohesion in local communities. This is an important part of the High Sheriff’s role and I look forward to recognising the hard work of local people and local organisations that work so hard to make their communities a better and safer place to live and work.”

Nomination forms can be downloaded as either pdf or word files and returned to HIWCF before 4th February 2019.

Grant Cornwell MBE, Chief Executive for HIWCF commented:

“HIWCF is delighted to partner the High Sheriff of Hampshire Mark Thistlethwayte in organising these annual honours, enabling hard working individuals and community groups that do so much in our local communities to be recognised for their impact on keeping Hampshire residents safe.”

The awards will be presented by the High Sheriff at a ceremony on 13th March 2019 at the Great Hall in Winchester. If you wish to take a look at some of the recent work of the High Sheriff please visit the Hampshire High Sheriff website

  • Having Action Hampshire as a point of reference, support and guidance is invaluable for small to medium sized charities like ourselves. Without them, we would be far less connected and less able to serve our beneficiaries in a meaningful and coordinated way.

  • I have found Action Hampshire to be truly innovative and forward thinking in their approach to their work and their passion for the voluntary and community sector is easily measured through their work to help improve the lives of all sections of the community.

  • Action Hampshire are the most fantastic organisation and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with them. They are very positive and easy to work with, from Rachel’s warmth on the front desk all the way up to Sue’s vast knowledge and experience on the top floor.
