Grants for projects addressing loneliness
Community centres and halls can play a big part in reducing people’s feelings of loneliness and social isolation. A thriving community building will have a wide range of activities and events going on; something for everyone in the area, whatever their age, life situation, and interests.
If you’d like to help people feel more connected and engaged with those around them, take a look at these two grant schemes.
We’ve already mentioned Hampshire County Council’s Rural Connections Grant – see our news item or go directly to the Council’s website. This closes at 10am on Monday 13 August so take a look as soon as you can.
There is also the national Building Connections Fund, awarding grants of £30,000 to £100,000 for ‘activities that will directly prevent or reduce loneliness and help to build connections between individuals and communities’ – see the Big Lottery Fund website for all the details. Again, the timescale is quite tight – the deadline for applications is midday on Friday 24 August.
