Edition 42 – Wednesday 10 February
Cameron Grant Memorial Trust
Applications for a grant of between £100 and £2,500 will be considered. The grant can be used to trial a new service, create an asset, a technology, a performance, fund research, or otherwise experiment in any way that supports the treatment mental health. The emphasis will be on innovation – using new methods, channels, technology, ideas or approaches to reach out and effect change. Ideas should typically fit into one of the following categories:
- Destigmatising mental health
- Reducing barriers to mental health care
- Improving mental wellbeing
Note the grants are for project-based activities that demonstrate clear innovation. They will not be made to fund ongoing operational expenses or salaries.

Big Society Capital – Ideas for Impact
Ideas for how social impact investment can address a social issue in the UK, with potential for the solution to scale through a fund or similar structure. Those with the greatest potential to transform people’s lives in the UK could each receive up to £30,000, plus in-kind support and connections. Deadline 1 March, 12pm.

Sea-Changers Coastal Fountain Fund
Grants are available for community organisations to install a water bottle refill station in a busy or environmentally important coastal location. Deadline 15 March.

National Heritage Lottery Fund
The National Lottery Heritage Fund has begun accepting applications to its annual funding programme. It is open to applications from a broad range of heritage projects and activities including industrial heritage and sites, castles and historic places of worship, public parks and natural landscapes. “Our focus now is to support the heritage sector to strengthen its recovery and to build back for positive change – reopening applications for heritage projects is key to the success of this.” Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Final call for applications to IGAS Energy Community Fund
This fund supports projects that make a difference to life in rural communities where IGAS operates – in Hampshire this is within 5 miles of IGAS Stockbridge (postcode SO21 2RJ). If you are based in this location, why not visit the IGAS website to see if you might be eligible to apply for up to £2,000 for a project. The closing date this year is 28 February. MSE Charity’s ‘Raising the Next Generation’ theme opened for applications on 1st Feb
The Money Saving Expert (MSE) Charity is currently accepting UK applications but will close as soon as 40 applications are accepted, so groups need to be quick in submitting their application. The February 2021 grant round is targeting and supporting the younger generation (under 25) who in the current difficult economic climate need support to develop and learn personal financial life skills. All applications must demonstrate how the project they are seeking funding for has a lasting impact on the people taking part. The maximum grant is £7,500. Swimathon Foundation’s Covid-19 Relief Fund Opens for Applications
Small swimming and aquatic organisations experiencing short-term financial hardship from the effects of Covid-19 can apply for a grant to help them make ends meet. The Swimathon Foundation is providing grants of between £250 and £1,000 to help small swimming and aquatics organisations meet their financial obligations during the period from 1 November 2020 to 31 March 2021. The deadline for applications is 26 February.

Information Commissioner’s Office Grants Programme
Grants are available for academic institutions, civil society groups, trade and industry associations and organisations to support independent research into privacy and data protection issues and develop privacy enhancing solutions. Grants of between £20,000 and £100,000 are available. Application deadline 11 March.

Youth Covid-19 Support Fund
UK Core Funding – Grassroots youth clubs, uniformed youth groups, and national youth and umbrella organisations. It will help to mitigate the impact of lost income during the winter period due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and ensure services providing vital support can remain viable.

Sobell Foundation
UK Core Funder – a general funder, but prefer to focus funding on registered small national and local charities, in England, Wales and Israel, benefiting children, the sick, elderly, needy and disabled. Big Society Capital’s Ideas for Impact Programme Inviting Applications
Big Society Capital is offering funding for social impact investment ideas with potential to scale that address a UK social issue. Through the Ideas for Impact programme, development funding of up to £30,000 is available to charities, social enterprises and fund managers to test new business models. The deadline for applications is noon on 1 March.

Isle of Wight – connect4communities Community Grants
Grants are available to Isle of Wight community organisations that are working to support households facing hardship as a result of the Covid-19 crisis. The connect4communities Community Grants programme seeks to help community organisations that are supporting vulnerable families during the winter as the Covid-19 pandemic continues, particularly to ensure that children and young people do not go hungry or without essential items. The Prince’s Countryside Fund – Barclays 100x100UK Covid-19 Community Relief Fund
Funding for farming and rural communities to cope with the impact of Covid-19, to expand on new services that have emerged to support the local community during this time and to build future resilience. This round is focused on small settlements with up to 3,000 residents across the UK. The maximum grant is £10,000. Applications will be accepted from 2 February 2021 and close when enough eligible applications have been received.

‘Solent Supporting Employment’ Programme
Round 2 of the Solent Supporting Employment Programme is open from 1st February 2021. Grants of between £30,000 – £60,000 are available to help local people into employment. Grants are aimed at organisations with a proven record in employability, that are able to reach and work with people facing complex barriers to employment, including BAME communities, older people, people with disabilities and people experiencing mental health issues and homelessness. Communities against Cancer 2021
Communities Against Cancer is about tackling health inequalities and improving people’s health outcomes. We know that some people face additional barriers to living a healthy lifestyle or understanding how to seek help if they are concerned. We are keen to hear from all groups who feel they can use the funding to reach people in their community with messages of cancer awareness and prevention. In particular, we would like to hear from groups who support people with additional challenges or who face health inequalities.

Connect4Communities Fund
These grants are specifically intended to help people to access necessities like food and fuel, provide support with food, energy and water bills for household purposes (including drinking, washing, cooking, central heating, and sanitary purposes) and sewerage. Funding can also be used for warm clothing, soap, blankets, boiler service/repair, purchase of equipment including fridges, freezers, ovens, etc., in recognition that a range of costs may arise which directly affect a household’s ability to afford or access food, energy and water.

New Grant Maker – small charities, community projects, social enterprises and individuals who are passionate about making a difference to people, their community or the environment. Communities against Cancer 2021
Communities Against Cancer is about tackling health inequalities and improving people’s health outcomes.
Action Hampshire is pleased to announce the continuation of the Communities Against Cancer project offering grants of up to £5,000 to community groups, social enterprises and charities to help raise awareness of cancer in communities working along the coastline of Dorset and Hampshire, including the Isle of Wight.

UK Retail & Hospitality Organisations
Those sectors of the economy hardest hit by stringent new lockdown measures will receive grants of up to £9,000 in a £4.6bn Treasury package designed to keep them afloat to the spring. In addition to grants worth £4bn, a further £594m will be made available to local councils to assist businesses impacted by the lockdown but not eligible for the new payments. National Lottery – Local Connections Fund
New £4 million fund to help charities and community groups in England that are working to reduce loneliness. Data Allowances – Disadvantaged Children

Covid Winter Grant Funding (Connect4Communities)
Charities and community groups who are in a position to support families and individuals facing hardship because of Covid-19 are encouraged to apply for a grant. These grants are specifically intended to help people, especially families with children, to access necessities like food and fuel. Before applying, please read the grant guidance for your area (Hampshire or Isle of Wight) which has full details including eligibility and criteria. Hampshire County Council are aiming to turn applications around extremely quickly, so don’t delay!

National Emergencies Trust (NET) Covid-19 Grants
Grants of up to £5,000 are now available to support organisations in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton, that are helping vulnerable people suffering hardship as a result of the short and long term economic and social consequences caused by the pandemic. The programme has transitioned from the initial immediate response to the longer term emergency phase and will close to applications on Friday 8th January 2021.

Message from Community Foundation about grant extensions
“We are currently experiencing a high volume of calls and email requests from grantee organisations that were unable to spend their HIWCF 2019 grants due to the impact of Covid-19. We therefore wish to confirm that all 2019 grants and those issued before the lockdown in March 2020 can be carried forward to October 2021 – BUT please note all NET and DCMS grants must be spent, in full, by the 31 March 2021 or the unspent funds may have to be returned to HIWCF. Please do not write in to us to check your individual grants, only contact us if you have a problem with your NET or DCMS grants.
Community Business Renewal Fund
Provides grants to community businesses in England affected by the Covid-19 crisis to adapt, renew and rebuild their business so they can remain financially viable. Find out if you’re eligible and how much you can claim to cover wages for employees on temporary leave (‘furlough’) due to Covid-19.
The Covid-19 Job Retention Scheme has been extended until 31 March 2021 and the government will review the scheme in January 2021.
Claims for furlough days in November 2020 must be submitted by 14 December 2020.
You can no longer submit claims for claim periods ending on or before 31 October 2020.

National Lottery Community Fund Resumes Three Funding Programmes for England
After applications were paused due to Covid-19, the National Lottery Community Fund has announced that the National Lottery Awards for All, Reaching Communities, and Partnerships funding programmes are now open for applications again.
The National Lottery Community Fund has now announced that the short-term emergency phase of funding is coming to an end and the following regular funding programmes for organisations in England have re-opened for applications:

In the announcement, the National Lottery Community Fund emphasised that:
“National Lottery funding is for everyone and is there to support communities to thrive. The Covid-19 crisis has helped us identify where we can do more to ensure our funding is reaching a full and diverse range of communities. With the pandemic still with us, we will continue to seek to support people and communities most adversely impacted.”
The National Lottery Community Fund will aim to be flexible and responsive to the needs of communities and organisations are invited to apply for funding to:
- Continue to deliver activity – whether the community needs crisis response, recovery or business as usual activity.
- Change and adapt, becoming more resilient to respond to new and future challenges.

The Finnis Scott Foundation makes grants for horticultural and art history projects. Solent Local Enterprise Partnership

Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has announced that it is relaunching its Crowdfunder Solent scheme to support micro and small businesses which have had to close their premises again due to further national restrictions. The funds have been opened up to ensure businesses can apply for money to help them trade throughout lockdown, this might be for an e-commerce enabled website or other costs to help them to continue to operate.

Masonic Charitable Foundation Hospice Grants – Widening Access – Improving Equality and Diversity in Hospice Care
Grants are available for adult and children’s hospices in England and Wales to promote equality, diversity and inclusion through proactive community engagement that dispels myths and misconception about hospice care and to ensure their services are culturally appropriate. Grants of up to £35,000 to support projects running over a period of 18 months. The funding is for projects that seek to address inequality and widen access to hospice care for groups of particular concern such as people over the age of 85, black and minority ethnic communities, people who identify as LGBTQ+, and socially deprived communities.

HMRC Invites Applications for Grant Funding 2021-2024
The funding is for bids that include one or more of the following activities:
HMRC will provide grants of between £20,000 and £750,000 per year, with a maximum threshold set at 50% of the organisation’s turnover (last audited accounts). HMRC want the VCS sector to support HMRC in helping those customers they currently find hardest to reach, or who cannot or will not interact directly with HMRC. Some vulnerable/marginalised customer groups may find it difficult to interact with HMRC, for reasons that include geography, culture, language and trust.
Registered charities, voluntary and community sector organisations, social enterprises, mutual and co-operatives based in the UK can apply for the grant funding as long as they meet all of the criteria which includes a turnover of no less than £40,000 per annum and having three years of financial history in place.
HMRC has secured £4.98 million funding (£1.66 million per year) to allocate to voluntary and community sector organisations to help them provide advice and support to customers who need extra help understanding and complying with their tax obligations and claiming their entitlements, including those who are digitally excluded.
- Advice and support – providing direct advice and support for HMRC’s customers who need extra help and cannot afford to pay for it.
- Digital inclusion – assisting customers who are digitally excluded, to build their confidence and capability to use HMRC’s online services for themselves.
- Specialist support and referrals – providing specialist advice and taking referrals by telephone or email from HMRC’s Extra Support teams and assisting customers who need independent advice and support with more complex tax issues, for example complicated PAYE issues, or claims for Special Relief and appeals.
Applicants must have the infrastructure and capability to handle in the region of 700 referrals per year and would be responsible for bringing individual cases to conclusion. The deadline for applications is 27 November 2020.
Inclusive Recovery Fund
Grants are available for social enterprises across England to deliver their important services and grow their impact while adapting to the challenges of the Covid-19 crisis. Deadline: 13 November.
A total of £4.75 million will be awarded in grants. Two levels of funding are available:
- Grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 for ventures that have been operating for under 12 months.
- Grants of between £10,000 and £500,000 for ventures that have been operating for over 12 months.
The Inclusive Recovery Fund is a partnership between UnLtd, the foundation for social entrepreneurs, and Comic Relief. The Fund is supported by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), as part of the Government’s £750 million support package for charities. The Fund is delivered by UnLdt.
The aim of the Fund is to enable social enterprises across England to create deep and lasting impact, build resilience and accelerate their growth.

British Council Digital Collaboration Fund
Grants of up to £50,000 available to organisations in the UK and selected countries overseas to collaborate digitally on international projects.
There are two levels of grants available, a small grant of £10,000 to £20,000 (4 grants awarded per area) or a large grant of £40,000 to £50,000 (5 grants awarded per area) in the following three areas:

The Global Majority Fund
Grants for new intermediary technical partners with the ability, expertise, networks and knowledge to distribute rapid funding to further Covid-19 response work with communities experiencing racial inequality in the UK. Power to Change Launches £3m Community Business Renewal Fund

Established community businesses will have three opportunities over the next five months to apply for unrestricted grants of between £10,000 and £20,000 to help them adapt, renew and rebuild their business so they can continue to serve their local communities as the country moves into the next phase of the pandemic. Funding is unrestricted!
Applications will be considered from all community businesses that were financially viable before the pandemic. Priority, however, will be given to community businesses supporting people who are at higher risk from Covid-19; operating in areas of high deprivation; or working closely with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.
There will be three application rounds, each of which will have a three-hour window of application.

CAF Resilience Fund
The CAF Resilience Fund exists to help charitable organisations in England that support the people hardest hit by Covid-19.
Through hundreds of targeted grants, this fund will support those working with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups such as those living in deprived areas, those supporting Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities and people with disabilities.
Both registered and unregistered charitable organisations, including community interest companies and social enterprises, can apply for the CAF Resilience Fund. This fund will initially distribute £20 million made up of grants ranging from £10,000 to £100,000 to deliver rapid relief from the impact of Covid-19.

Beatrice Laing Trust
The funding is for projects concerned with the relief of poverty or distress, particularly those relating to children, and the advancement of the evangelical Christian faith, both at home and abroad. Moneybarn (Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation)
Grants of up to £5k are now available for charities, community groups, social enterprises and voluntary organisations in Havant, Gosport, Fareham and Petersfield. The Moneybarn Social Impact Fund can help with improving people’s personal finance capabilities, improving physical and/or mental health, supporting positive family relationships, providing opportunities to reduce inequality, addressing low educational attainment and increasing access to employment.

Magdalen Hospital Trust
The fund benefits vulnerable children and young adults, especially those at risk of sexual and other forms of exploitation. They prefer to fund project costs rather than core costs. Projects can include those that provide training for work and personal development, clubs, crime prevention, emergency care, play schemes, mental health support and counselling.
No grants are made to non-registered charities, individuals, charities with an annual income in excess of £150,000 or national charities. Grants are usually one-off and project-based, although longer-term proposals will be considered very occasionally. Grants are normally within the range £500-£2,000.

Masonic Charitable Foundation – Large Grants
Most of the support provided by the Masonic Charitable Foundation takes the form of financial grants to individuals and families to assist with daily living costs. They can also award grants to provide specific items or services. A range of health and care needs, including medical and dental treatments, counselling and mobility aids or home adaptations are supported, with funding also available for respite, residential, nursing and dementia care.

Two grants for Southampton organisations
Southampton Voluntary Services are administering two grants to help with Covid-19: a Buildings Grant and an Innovations Grant. The Buildings Grant is for up to £500 to help make sure buildings are Covid secure. This money can be used against costs already incurred. The Innovation Grant is for up to £2,000 to help support community projects that increase community awareness, engagement and compliance with key Covid-19 public health measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 transmission, and/or improve outcomes following infection with Covid-19. The Fund seeks to support projects that have good reach with local residents.

Funding available for waste prevention community projects in Hampshire
Hampshire County Council has reopened this grant fund. Funding up to £5,000 is available to fund projects helping to reduce household waste, encourage community cohesion and support the local economy. This year the Council is particularly looking to fund projects which will introduce a new waste prevention, reuse or repair service to the local area, helping residents to reduce their waste as well as potentially saving them money. Postcode Dream Trust Launches Postcode Recovery Fund
The Postcode Recovery Fund has been created to support charities to develop innovative solutions that address the many issues affecting people as society recovers from the effects of the pandemic. Charities can apply for grants of between £500,000 and £1 million for high impact and original projects that can be delivered within Great Britain in 2021-2023. Priority areas for support include educational inequalities, homelessness, domestic violence, health and wellbeing, poverty, social exclusion and isolation. Wessex Water Recovery Fund
Not relevant to most Hampshire orgs, but if you work over the border in Wiltshire or Dorset, it could be. Grants are available to community organisations in the Wessex Water area in the south west of England for delivering local projects in response to issues arising from the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Weston Culture Fund
The new one-off Weston Culture Fund (Garfield Weston) is now open for applications from performing, visual and literary arts organisations, arts centres, independent cinemas and accredited museums and galleries. The focus of the Fund is on helping those organisations with “restarting, adaptation and programming”. Organisations can submit applications that span across one, two or all three of these areas:
- Restarting work and reopening
- Making critical adaptations or improvements
- Programming new activity or adapting existing activities

Prince’s Countryside Fund
Supported by the People’s Postcode Lottery, the Prince’s Countryside Fund’s Grant Making Programme is accepting applications for projects which address the theme ‘Rural Community Resilience’. The theme refers to projects that will allow the community to survive and thrive, especially when facing a situation which affects daily rural life. The funding is for projects across the UK which protect or boost community assets and enterprises, or otherwise strengthen the sense of community.
The deadline for applications is 3 November, noon. Groups should apply early as the Fund reserves the right to close the round earlier than the deadline.

Community Business Trade Up Programme Final Round
Community businesses in England that exist to improve a local neighbourhood, village or town can apply now to access a free learning programme, a match trading grant and an opportunity to meet with similar organisations. There are 50 places for community business leaders across England who will learn in groups of 10. The programme is delivered by the School for Social Entrepreneurs online and in-person – at five locations, subject to Government social distancing guidelines. This is the fifth and final year of the programme. The deadline for applications is 2 December, 13:00.

Archives Revealed – Scoping Grants
Grants are available to public sector bodies, registered charities and other not-for-profit organisations in the UK to help analyse collections, supporting development of future plans for cataloguing priorities and projects. Innovation continuity loans are available for SMEs and third sector organisations in the UK that are at risk of not continuing planned or existing innovation activity due to a sudden shortage or even unavailability of funds directly related to Covid-19. Minimum value: £250,000. Maximum value: £1,600,000. Innovate UK’s Innovation Loans scheme aims to provide finance that is affordable, patient and flexible for later-stage innovation projects that have a clear route to commercial success and economic impact. Loans are aimed at innovative micro, small and medium-sized businesses or third sector organisations that will be able to manage a loan, but may struggle to access finance or need to raise funds alongside offers from commercial lenders or schemes backed by the British Business Bank. Police and Crime Commissioner
Grants available from the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton. The Police and Crime Commissioner, Michael Lane, has an ambition, through his Commissioning and Partnerships Team, to reduce offending and support victims, enabling people to realise their life potential without being drawn into the Criminal Justice System.

BAME Heathy Communities Surviving Covid-19 Fund
Grants are available for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) led voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations across the UK to help them support their communities during and beyond the Covid-19 crisis, building wellbeing, resilience, and capacity.
Three levels of funding are available:
Option 1: Grants of up to £5,000 for organisations with an annual income of under £50,000.

Recovery fund for film and TV
The Film and TV Covid-19 Recovery Fund has been created to reach people in the industry most affected by Covid-19. Offering financial and wellbeing support over six months to help people to sustain themselves and their careers through and out of the pandemic. The Film and TV Charity is able to provide grants of £750 a month for up to six months (up to £4,500) to active workers in film, TV and cinema affected by the crisis who are the least financially resilient, and who are the most at risk professionally and personally. Mayor of Winchester’s Local Hero Award (short deadline)
The Mayor of Winchester is inviting local people to nominate family, friends, neighbours and community groups for a new award.
Do you know someone in Winchester District who has:
- lead or volunteered with a community group to ensure that residents in your neighbourhood have been able to receive essential items?
- created a voluntary group to help local residents and businesses through lockdown?
- adapted a business to serve a local community?
- befriended residents who are shielding to provide comfort whilst often being alone?
- shopped and collected prescriptions for their neighbours?
If you do, the Mayor would like to hear from you.
Residents need to send in nominations with up to 100 words about the person or group they are putting forward – there is an option to include a photograph with the form too. Applications close on Wednesday 30 September and winners will receive a Mayor of Winchester Local Hero Award certificate.

Garfield Weston Foundation announces new £25m fund to support the arts
The new one-off Weston Culture Fund will open early next month and aims to support performing and visual arts organisations, arts centres, accredited museums and galleries as they try to recover from the impact of Covid-19.The fund is specifically for charitable organisations with a pre-Covid regular annual income of £500,000 or greater; smaller organisations will be able to apply for the regular grants programme via the Foundation’s website as usual.
Full details of the fund will be available on the Foundation’s website on 5 October 2020. Applications will be accepted from that date until 9 November with notification of decisions by the end of January 2021.

The Fore – RAFT Transition Fund
Unrestricted grants to help small charities and social enterprises in the UK plan for the longer term and gain a stronger footing in the post-covid world. There is a current funding pot of £1 million. Unrestricted grants of up to £15,000 are available.
The current phase is the RAFT Transition Fund, designed to support small charities and social enterprises as they adapt to the post-lockdown world. Funding will enable grantees to strengthen their organisations, plan ahead, become more sustainable and refocus on the new needs of their beneficiaries.
The Fore is particularly looking to fund small organisations working with marginalised groups and led by people in the community that may have found it hard to access trust and foundation funding in the past. New Round of Aviva Community Fund Opens for Applications
Aviva is looking for organisations that are developing a new approach, product or technology, piloting a new scheme, implementing a new initiative, or expanding existing services to a new area or beneficiary group. Especially in light of the Covid-19 crisis, Aviva will support projects that boost the resilience of communities in the face of uncertainty.
The funding will be distributed based on a crowdfunding approach. Charities and community interest companies with an annual income of less than £1 million can submit applications for projects looking to raise up to £50,000.
Their projects will be available on Crowdfunder and a total of £250,000 is then shared equally among Aviva’s UK employees to donate directly to those projects that matter the most to them. Charities can also reach out to their networks and the general public to raise their target amount. The deadline for submitting an application is 13 October, 23:59.

BSA Offers Funding for British Science Week 2021
The British Science Association (BSA) is offering grants to voluntary and community organisations to help fund their British Science Week (BSW) events and activities. Grants of either £500 or £2,000 are available for community groups that work directly with audiences who are traditionally under-represented and currently not engaged in science activity.
The funding can be used for materials, room hire, publicity, speakers, trainers, freelancers, project specific staff costs, audio-visual hire, reasonable volunteer expenses, transport or other costs of activities or events celebrating British Science Week. Festival UK Research and Development (R&D) Project Fund

National Lottery Heritage Fund
Grants of up to £5m are available to environmental charities and partnerships that include at least one environmental charity for projects in England aimed at restoring nature and tackling climate change.
All projects must contribute to at least one of the following: nature conservation and restoration; nature-based solutions particularly focused on climate change mitigation and adaptation; and connecting people with nature. Police and Crime Commissioner
The Home Office has released funding to support small charities that work with vulnerable young people in respect of the impact of Covid-19. This applies to small registered charities who earn under £100,000pa that work with vulnerable children at risk of serious violence. This funding has to be spent by December 2020. Bids must be in relation to supporting the above target group and must not exceed more than 50% of the annual income of the organisation.
Bids will ultimately be approved by the Home Office but via the Pan Hampshire Violence Reduction Unit (VRU). If you feel that your organisation would be eligible then please contact Eleanor Snookes to discuss further.
Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund
The loan fund, run by the Social Investment Business has so far approved funding of almost £10m to 25 charities and social enterprises, but it has a further £15m to invest before it closes to new applications on 30th September. A further £4m in grants is available alongside loans to organisations in England from Access – The Foundation for Social Investment. Loans are not right for many organisations, but if you’re interested, take a look here sharpish.

Social Enterprise Support Fund

Power to Change have opened up the final round of the Social Enterprise Support Fund to more social enterprises. You can now apply if your pre-Covid-19 annual income was £20k – £1.8m (previously £25k – £1.5m). The fund offers grants of £10k – £300k for social enterprises in England that support people at direct health risk from Covid-19 and/or those hit hardest by the pandemic.
The final round is open Thursday 10th – Thursday 17th September.
The fund was established in partnership by The National Lottery Community Fund and five social enterprise support agencies: UnLtd, School for Social Entrepreneurs, Key Fund, Resonance and Big Issue Invest.

£12 Million available for Disabled People’s User-Led Organisations for Covid-19 Support
The National Emergencies Trust (NET) are distributing £12million of funds from its Covid-19 Appeal to a range of charity partnerships. SPECTRUM Centre for Independent Living has been chosen as the partner for the South East. This funding will be awarded to projects that specifically support Disabled People with issues experienced during this period, such as social isolation or issues obtaining food.

MSE Charity’s ‘Building and Developing Resilience’ Theme
The Money Saving Expert (MSE) Charity is currently accepting UK applications but will close as soon as 40 applications are accepted, so groups need to be quick in submitting their application.
In response to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Charity has modified some of the funding criteria for the September 2020 round but has kept the overarching theme the same as in previous years. The Charity will fund projects that focus on building financial capability skills for those who need it most, to support people recovering from the results of the pandemic and equip them to move forward.
The maximum grant is £7,500. The applications most likely to be successful are those that ask for funding for a specific activity cost rather than a general contribution to running costs or a much larger project. Organisations can include requests for up to £500 for IT equipment that is essential for the delivery of the project in their application. Deadline is 25 September.

Hilton Humanitarian Prize 2021
The annual Hilton Humanitarian Prize, the world’s largest humanitarian award at US$2.5 million, has opened for nominations.
The Prize was last awarded to an organisation in the UK in 2001. That year, the Prize was awarded to St. Christopher’s Hospice which was founded in London in 1967 and began the modern worldwide hospice movement. New Fund Supports LGBT+ Organisations Impacted by Pandemic
A new Fund aims to ensure that organisations can meet the immediate needs of LGBT+ people and communities most adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Non-profit LGBT+ organisations across the UK can apply for a share of the new £350,000 LGBT+ Futures Fund. The Fund will support ongoing work, core costs and additional work which strengthens the position of LGBT+ organisations and their ability to respond to community needs arising during the Covid-19 pandemic. A proportion of the funding is ringfenced for work that supports LGBT+ People of Colour/those from BAME backgrounds.

Government opens £3.3m fund to support babies from deprived backgrounds
The The Health and Wellbeing Fund, set up by the Department of Health and Social Care, is designed to help community projects improve learning and development, perinatal mental health and prevent obesity. The fund is also open to applications from charity-run projects aimed at reducing the percentage of babies born with low birthweight, increasing the take-up of breastfeeding, increasing the number of smoke-free homes, improving learning, speech and language development, improving immunisation rates and reducing rates of preventable disease.
Grants of between £200,000 and £510,000 are available over the next three years. The fund is particularly focused on projects supporting babies from deprived areas or black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds. Applications will close at midday on 30 October, with successful projects to be announced In December.

Catalyst Covid-19 Digital Response
Charities are being invited to apply for a share of a £5m fund designed to help them improve their digital capabilities. The funding will be provided in a mix of grants and support worth up to a maximum of £60,000 per successful organisation.
The fund is expected to prioritise organisations that work with groups that have been disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, including older people, people who experience health inequalities or social isolation and disabled people. Of the funds available, £1.8m will be made available in direct grants with the remaining £3.2m going to fund expert support that will be provided to successful applicants.
The scheme is open to any social organisation that is part of a network of 10 or more other charities and is willing to share what it learns with that group. Applications are particularly welcome from user-led organisations and those representing ethnic minority communities, LGBT+, disabled and other marginalised communities, organisers said in a statement. The first deadline for applications is 7 September.

More than a Pub: The Community Pub Business Support Programme
After being closed for nearly five months due to the Covid-19 crisis, the programme is now open for applications from community groups that want to take on the ownership of their local pub for the benefit of their community. A total of £2.2. million is available for the current round which runs to December 2020. A comprehensive package of business-development support, advice and loan and grant funding is available to assist community pub businesses consider their viability at all stages of their development.

Suicide Innovation Prevention Grant Fund
Grants are available for voluntary and community groups and other non-profit organisations, for community-based initiatives that help to prevent suicides, save lives and reduce self-harm across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. There is a total funding pot of £65,000 available for the financial year 2020/21. Grants of up to £10,000 are available.
The Fund has been developed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sustainability and Transformation Partnership, to fund projects as part of their suicide prevention programme. The Fund is administered by Southampton City Council. Closing date 14 September.

Government invites arts charities to apply for sustainability loans
The £270m scheme offers loans of £3m or more that are repayable over 20 years with an initial four-year repayment holiday. According to eligibility criteria published on Arts Council England’s website, the fund is open to “cultural organisations – charitable, not for profit, and commercial – operating within the arts, museums, heritage (including built, natural and intangible heritage) sectors, including independent cinemas”. Magic Little Grants Still Available for 2020
The funding is for physical activity projects which encourage people to participate in sports and exercise with the primary aim of improving their physical health and well-being. Grants to help charities access Covid-19 loan scheme
Blended grant funding worth £4m is being made available to be used alongside the Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund to support charities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Grants will only be awarded alongside a loan if it is clear that the Covid-19 interruption to their business model means that they would struggle to meet a viability threshold for a loan without the grant. In this sense, the grant enables use of the loan fund – it is hoped that this will widen the reach and accessibility of the fund. Assessed on a case by case basis alongside the loan, grants that are awarded will range in size from £40k – £300k and can be 20% to 40% of the loan amount.

Recovery grants of up to £3m available for heritage organisations
Heritage organisations can now apply for grants of up to £3m to help them recover from the effects of the pandemic.
Applications are now open for the £92m Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage that will be distributed by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England. It is open to heritage organisations managing a heritage site or visitor attraction, private owners of a heritage site, venue or attraction, and organisations managing, maintaining or caring for culturally significant assets or collections. Businesses that are a vital part of the heritage ecosystem, as well as conservators, contractors, specialists and suppliers are also eligible, including organisations that manage culturally significant assets or collections, and non-accredited museums.

Lloyds Bank Foundation
The £7.4m fund will open for applications on 3 August, for charities across England and Wales with an annual income of between £25,000 and £1m. Eligible organisations must be working to tackle complex social issues such as mental health, homelessness or domestic abuse, and must have a proven track record of helping people achieve positive change in their local communities, the foundation said in a statement. Funding will be offered to 140 charities, and at least a quarter of the money will be allocated to charities led by and for black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities.

Portsmouth City Council have a second and final round of applications open for the scheme, with wider criteria. Inspiring Futures
This programme is being funded by £3m from both BBC Children in Need and the Youth Futures Foundation, and will offer grants of up to £80,000 over the next 18 months. Can you help more BAME-led organisations to access Covid-19 crisis funds?
UK Community Foundations (UKCF) is making a new infrastructure fund available for organisations that can help more BAME-led organisations to apply for National Emergencies Trust (NET) grants through their local Community Foundations. An initial £250,000 has been allocated for this purpose, with more funds anticipated on a rolling basis.
UKCF is seeking applications from BAME-led infrastructure organisations to access the new fund. Grants between £5,000 – £20,000 over a maximum of three months are available.
Applications will be considered by an independent panel every week and awards made as quickly as possible thereafter.

Debt advice providers
Open At last – information about this funding on the MAPs website! The Treasury announced a £37.8 million support package for debt advice providers, and are holding early engagement activity.

To be eligible for funding, you must:
- Hold relevant FCA authorisations
- Provide free to customer debt advice
- Hold a MaPS accredited quality standard or relevant FCA authorisation
- Meet existing debt technical supervision requirements.
They mention a webinar being held of 17th July, but I’m unable to find any further reference to this.
Frugi’s Happy Childhood Fund
Grants are available for small UK charities for projects which support children living in poverty. No grant amount specified.

Grants are available for local voluntary and community groups undertaking projects in the arts, social and community action and education that will benefit Basingstoke residents. Grants of between £500 and £1,000 are normally awarded; however, larger grants are considered from time to time.

Grants are available for local projects and groups which are making a difference to people’s lives in the areas in which Hendy Group dealerships are located in the South of England. Grants of £500 to £,5000 are available.

Listeners Trust
One-off grants are available for not-for-profit organisations undertaking Christian projects in the City of Southampton and the county of Hampshire. The pattern of grants shows £830 as average, with occasional larger sums. The Trustees are keen to support one or two projects with larger sums. Such awards are intended to make a crucial difference to the projects.

New Forest LEADER Programme
Funding Body: DEFRA. Financial assistance is available for farmers, foresters, rural businesses, social enterprises and community organisations based in the New Forest LEADER Programme area. Grants of £2,500 to £50,000. All grant recipients must provide their own ‘match-funding’ contribution – from 20% to 60% of the project cost.

Grants are available to local voluntary and community groups for not-for-profit community service projects that meet the needs of Radian residents and the wider community. Grants of up to £1,500 are available per group per year. Larger grants may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Kick-starting Tourism Package
The government has announced a new £10 million “Kick-starting Tourism” Package. The package will give small businesses in tourist destinations grants of up to £5,000 to help them adapt following the Covid-19 pandemic. We don’t have any further details, but the announcement can be found here
Fund Anchor Foundation
The Anchor Foundation supports Christian charities concerned with social inclusion particularly through ministries of healing and the arts. Deadline is 31 July.

Eastleigh Borough Council – Small Grants Scheme for Sports Clubs
Grants are available to local sports clubs for projects that make a difference to the local community, and for individuals who show extreme sporting potential. Grants of between £50 and £250 per group or individual are available.

Ford Britain Trust
Grants are available to not-for-profit organisations and schools for projects that benefit local communities in Great Britain with preference given to Essex, including East London, Southampton, Daventry, Manchester, Liverpool, and Bridgend (South Wales). Small Grants of between £1 and £250, and large Grants of between £251 and £3,000.

Grants are available to small not-for-profit organisations and registered charities for projects involved with health and social welfare in the counties of Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Kent, Leicestershire, Suffolk, Surrey, East Sussex and West Sussex. One-year grants of between £500 and £10,000 and grants of up to £20,000 spread over either two or three years are available.

Grants are available to assist with the construction, renovation or alteration of local community buildings and play and recreation equipment in Test Valley. Funding is also available for local public art projects. Grants are available for up to 50% of the total cost of a project, with contributions from £2,000 up to a maximum of £25,000.

Covid Summer Food Fund
To support children over the summer holiday period who usually receive free school meals. Through the Fund, schools can offer £90 voucher to cover the six-week holiday period, or £105 if the holiday lasts seven full weeks.

DM Thomas Foundation for Young People
Provides funding for organisations which work to improve the lives of children and young people, focussing on CYP with disabilities; who are sick in hospital; who are life limited; or struggling with mental health. Deadline for this round is 22 July.

Fareham Borough Council – Community Grants Programme
One-off grants are available to local voluntary groups, clubs and organisations for projects in Fareham that benefit the community. Groups can apply for any amount, but groups seeking more than £5,000 are expected to contribute at least the same amount of money to the project from other sources.

Grants are available to UK registered charities for charitable activity that falls within the Trust’s current funding priorities, either nationally or specifically in Hampshire or West Sussex. Although the Trust does not specify a typical grant size, the majority of grants are between £5,000 and £7,000.

Equine Rescues Emergency Fund
UK equine welfare organisations with income under £500,000. Organisations for whom the rescue and rehoming of equines is the primary focus are eligible to apply for grants of up to £5,000, with Petplan expecting the average grant to be around £2,500. Racing Welfare
Streamlined application for Covid-19 Hardship Grants for anyone working in the British horseracing and breeding industry. Immediate basic needs, such as food, electricity and heating; fortnightly amounts of £150 for single applicants and £210 for families.

The Asda Foundation has created two new grant schemes: the Hygiene Grant and the Healthy Holiday Grant
• Hygiene Grant: the Foundation expects applications to come from care homes, hospices, hospitals, and homeless shelters.

Clinks
Voluntary organisations working in the criminal justice system with under £500,000 annual income can apply for grant funding to support their work during Covid-19. Clinks is looking for organisations with an existing relationship with HMPPS who are delivering, or have a track record of delivering, services to support people in prison, through-the-gate and in the community in the context of Covid-19. Clinks expects to provide grants of £3,000 – £5,000. No organisation will be granted more than £20,000.

Explore
The Explore programme will help charities to scope a digital solution to improve outcomes for the people they support, and to build the skills to develop a strong, user-led approach to digital service delivery.
The programme will allow charities to engage in a 12-week learning journey to scope out the kinds of digital services they might provide and to explore how digital technology could transform the ways they work. The programme includes grants of £5,000 for individual organisations or £7,500 for collaborations.
The application process is open to UK charities and not-for-profit orgs with incomes over £75,000 and should address one of Comic Relief’s core issue areas. More information is available here. Applications close on 22nd June 2020.

The Community Justice Fund
The Community Justice Fund has been formed by a partnership of key representative umbrella bodies to help specialist social welfare legal advice organisations to cope with the immediate impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and lay the foundations for longer term renewal. Covid-19 Homelessness Response Fund 2020-21
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has announced £6 million of emergency funding to provide relief for frontline homelessness charitable organisations who are directly affected by the Covid-19 outbreak. Homeless Link will be distributing the fund.
They will fund frontline organisations working directly with people experiencing homelessness where more than 50 per cent of beneficiaries are people experiencing homelessness. Applicants must be incorporated charitable organisations with an annual turnover of less than £5 million. If you are unable to apply for funding in this timeframe, there will be further opportunities to apply for funding for both emergency relief, and to develop new services, in this financial year. Applications close on Wednesday 27th May.

Impact Programme for Armed Forces Communities
The Covid-19 Impact Programme is a £6m Ministry of Defence fund to ensure that people from Armed Forces communities can keep accessing important services, where resources for these services have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. It will be administered by The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
The £6 million fund is available as grants of up to £60,000. In exceptional circumstances, grants of up to £125,000 or more may be awarded. To apply, charities must be working in one of nine key areas: Support to the elderly (including care homes); Mental and physical health; Welfare; Domestic violence; Housing; Criminal Justice System; Service families (including childcare); Bereavement; Employment. The deadline for applications is 29 May 2020.

The Youth Endowment Fund has opened a new £6.5m Covid-19 grant round to support vulnerable young people at risk of youth violence. The Youth Endowment Fund’s Covid-19 grant round will fund and evaluate work which supports vulnerable young people at risk of youth violence, that can be delivered whilst adhering to UK government social distancing and stay-at-home guidelines.

£13m available from Ofgem to support vulnerable energy consumers
The Ofgem Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme opens its latest funding round for applications today to charities that support vulnerable energy consumers, including a new Covid-19 Crisis Fund.
There are four separate funds. The first three are: the Main Fund, which contains £2.1m and is aimed at projects seeking grants of between £50,000 and £500,000; the Small Grants Fund, which contains £450,000 and is aimed at projects seeking grants of between £20,000 and £49,999; and the Innovation Fund, which contains £450,000 and is aimed at projects seeking grants of between £50,000 and £450,000. The deadline for applications to the above three funds is 5pm on 28 May.
The fourth fund is the new Covid-19 Crisis Fund, which contains up to £10m and is open to charities that support vulnerable households. The fund can award grants of between £20,000 and £300,000. The initial closing date for applications is 5pm on 21 May.

Government’s £5m loneliness fund is now open for applications
Charities can now apply to a £5m government fund aimed at tackling loneliness during the coronavirus emergency, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) has announced. The fund will be issuing grants between £500,000 and £1m, and aims “to ensure that, for people of all ages and backgrounds, staying at home does not need to lead to loneliness”. British Horse Society
The BHS has launched a hardship fund in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Small grants are available to BHS Approved Centres to support the health and wellbeing of horses and ponies. Baring Foundation
Charities are invited to apply for a share of £1m to help them in areas including taking legal action related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Baring Foundation said today it would offer grants of up to £40,000 to support legal action that sought to protect vulnerable people and communities from the impact of Covid-19.

New fund launches to support BAME organisations during crisis
A new fund has launched with the aim of tackling the impact of the pandemic on BAME communities and organisations. The Resourcing Racial Justice Fund will open for applications on 18 May and organisations will be able to apply for grants between £5,000 and £50,000.
The fund is looking to support both projects that respond to “immediate needs” of people of colour and more long-term initiatives aiming to create “solutions for change on a systemic level”.

HCC Local Solutions Grant
Hampshire County Council are inviting the voluntary sector to attend an online launch event for the 2020/21 Local Solutions Grant. The grant was set up by the council’s Adults’ Health and Care Department with the aim of working with the voluntary sector on a local level in order to support residents across the county to live independent lives for as long as possible. Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund (RRLF)
This is a new emergency loan fund which will provide repayable finance to charities and social enterprises who are experiencing disruption as a result of Covid-19 and is intended for organisations that have an otherwise viable business model. It has been established to make the Government’s existing Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) more easily accessible to charities and social enterprises. You must have a minimum turnover of £400k.

The Solent LEP, in partnership with New Forest District Council and Natural Enterprise, have launched a new Rural Business Resilience Fund for businesses in the New Forest. The specialist insurer Ecclesiastical is inviting people to enter their favourite charities into a prize draw for the chance to win one of 500 grants of £1,000. The first round of Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards will be open for nominations until 24 May, with a second round later in the summer bringing the total funding pot to £1m. Power to Change Emergency Funding
Power to Change have £12 million available to fund community businesses, in two tranches:
- £7 million in ‘rescue funding’. Grants of up to £25,000 to contribute towards trading income losses incurred due to Coronavirus. It is available to previous Power to Change grantees, and to community businesses which are members of Co-operatives UK, Locality & Plunkett Foundation.
- £5 million in recovery funding later this year

The Association of Dogs and Cats Homes
One-off grants of up to £10,000 available to animal rescues, to help them continue their work during the coronavirus outbreak. Grants will be prioritised for organisations with an annual turnover of £500,000 or less and will help support the cost of food, bedding, cleaning equipment and transportation of animals, as well as additional costs as a result of staff and volunteers not being able to attend the rescue or shelter.

Barclays’ 100×100 UK covid-19 community relief programme
Barclays are making 100 donations of £100,000 each to UK charities working to support vulnerable communities impacted by covid-19, and the associated social and economic hardship caused by the crisis. The programme will focus on supporting charity partners who are meeting the immediate needs of people in our communities, including low income families, those facing financial hardship, isolated elderly people and key workers. The Resilience & Recovery Loan Fund is a new fund for social enterprises and charities that are experiencing disruption to their normal business models as a result of the pandemic. It has been established to make an existing government scheme, the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme, more easily accessible to charities and social enterprises. It is being run by SIB with an initial £25m investment and support from Big Society Capital.

Edition 5 – Wednesday 22 April
National Lottery money has been aligned with the Government money and they will only be giving out grants of up to 6months (in contradiction to previous info). And they would like proposals asap – ideally before 1st May. If you want them to consider an application in relation to COVID-19 response, please ensure the time scale is for 6 months. They will not be offering any awards greater than £100,000 for the six month period and hope to be able to support more local smaller groups if possible. It will in effect be a one stage process, and they will gather as much information as possible at submission and if necessary in a conversation and decisions will be based on that detail provided. Applicants should try to keep their application to no more than a page of A4.
They will prioritise applications from:
- Organisations supporting people who are at high risk from COVID-19
- Organisations supporting communities most likely to face increased demand and challenges as a direct result of measures to prevent the result of COVID-19
- Organisations with high potential to support communities with the direct and indirect impact of COVID-19
Morrisons Foundation – Covid-19 Homeless Support Fund
The fund is designed to support charities caring for homeless people during the coronavirus outbreak and ensure help gets to those who need it most. Applications up to £10,000 will be considered, but smaller amounts preferred.

Police and Crime Commissioner
The Police and Crime commissioner have launched their COVID-19 Keeping Communities Safer Fund. If you or someone you know has got a great idea to help your local community for £500 or less you can ask the Police and Crime Commissioner now. Apply here

The Barclays Foundation will be giving out £100 million – half of in the form of direct funding for charities, while the other half is a commitment to match employees’ donations, including senior figures in the corporate pledging a third of their salary. Virgin Money Foundation
have announced that they will make £500,000 available for existing grantees through their Community Resilience Fund. An additional £252,731 will be available through the pre-existing Community Anchors Fund, which supports locally-led organisations making a positive difference to their neighbourhoods, to help groups affected by the virus.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation is accepting applications from local community-based organisations. Proposals must address specific challenges in relation to COVID-19 for people already living with or at severe risk of HIV/AIDS.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund – Emergency Fund
£50million fund to support the heritage sector as an immediate response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Grants of between £3,000 and £50,000 are available to organisations which have received funding in the past or are a current grantee.

Defra are making £3.25m available through the Resource Action Fund administered by WRAP. The fund will be delivered in three phases. Phase 1: WRAP will contact a target list of small redistribution organisations who have previously applied for funding. Phases 2 and 3 will be launched shortly. Facebook business grants
Facebook is offering $100M in cash grants and ad credits for up to 30,000 eligible small businesses in over 30 countries where they operate. “We’ll share more details as they become available” says the company. It is not yet clear whether Facebook will include charities, but we’ll keep you posted.

The Fore are developing a fast-track, straightforward application and assessment process to allocate small, emergency grants of up to £5,000 to meet the changing needs of their beneficiaries. Rapid Response Fund
Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) has launched a rapid response fund to help smaller charitable organisations affected by the impact of Covid-19. Grants of up to £10,000 are available and they will aim to make payments within 14 days of application. Organisations with income of under £1 million are eligible (it includes CICs, unregistered orgs, mutuals etc)

Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT) has suspended its normal grant funding activities and set up an emergency fund for sight loss organisations during the current crisis. The Solent LEP Pay it Forward fund
Providing support for existing micro and small businesses seeking to cope in challenging trading conditions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Solent LEP Pay it Forward fund is seeking projects that can demonstrate how they will help a business cope with current challenging trading conditions. There is a maximum pledge of up to £2,000 per micro business (fewer than 10 staff) and up to £5,000 per small business (fewer than 50 staff) available, contributing up to 50% towards the total target.

Support for Theatre Professionals during Coronavirus is a collection of funds and sources of advice or support for those in the theatre industry. Netflix
Netflix Coronavirus Relief Fund is offering $100m to help members of the creative community who have been left unemployed and without a way to earn an income during the coronavirus crisis. $15 million of the Netflix fund will go to third parties and non-profits that offer emergency relief to out-of-work crew and cast in countries where there’s a large production base.

John Lewis Partnership’s £1m community support fund
The retailer has said the cash will be distributed through its Waitrose grocery stores for schemes such as local delivery services to support the self-isolating, the vulnerable, older people and those looking after them, as well as for delivering boxes of staples to local care homes. It will donate products for customers to share with vulnerable neighbours.

With the support of partner businesses, Neighbourly is offering a series of micro-grants of up to £400, to support good causes that are helping communities affected by the new coronavirus outbreak.
