Health in Mid Hampshire

Action Hampshire was commissioned by Mid Hampshire Better Local Care*, to carry out research into health and wellbeing in Mid Hampshire.

There were two main strands to this project:

  • older people’s experiences of healthcare
  • social isolation
Older People’s experiences of local healthcare

Carrying out in-depth interviews with 34 local older people to better understand their experiences of health interventions and what could have improved them. We focussed on older people with multiple heath conditions – physical and/or mental.
You can download the resulting reports here:

  • In their own words (Summary)
  • In their own words (Full Report)
  • In their own words (The Case Studies)
Social isolation

This element of the project looked at the nature, risks and factors contributing to social isolation, and how these impact on people’s health and wellbeing. This report is called Social isolation and its impacts on health and wellbeing in Mid Hampshire.
You can download the resulting reports here:

  • Social Isolation in Mid Hampshire (Summary)
  • Social Isolation in Mid Hampshire (Full Report)
  • Social Isolation in Mid Hampshire (Poster)
Please use and share these reports!

We hope that the key findings and points for consideration will help us all to improve services and help more people access the right support, at the right time and place.

We would like to give our very grateful thanks to all the people who so generously and openly gave us their time, experience and expertise.

If you would like to discuss this research in further detail, please contact us.

  • Pamber parish council were really pleased with the support provided by Action Hampshire’s Rural Housing Enabler helping us through the development process. It was a good experience.

    Chris Goss, Pamber Parish Council
  • Action Hampshire has always been a useful font of information for us at Winchester Churches Nightshelter. Sue has always been really helpful, and I do find the updates from the ‘wider’ world to be of interest.

    Michèle Price, Winchester Churches Nightshelter
  • Having Action Hampshire as a point of reference, support and guidance is invaluable for small to medium sized charities like ourselves. Without them, we would be far less connected and less able to serve our beneficiaries in a meaningful and coordinated way.

Juno Hollyhock, The Rose Road Association
  • I have found Action Hampshire to be truly innovative and forward thinking in their approach to their work and their passion for the voluntary and community sector is easily measured through their work to help improve the lives of all sections of the community.

Grant Cornwell, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation
  • Action Hampshire are the most fantastic organisation and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with them. They are very positive and easy to work with, from Rachel’s warmth on the front desk all the way up to Sue’s vast knowledge and experience on the top floor.

    George Scott-Welsh, IncuHive
