Village Halls Week 2019

Village Halls Week is happening again in 2019, following its successful launch in January 2018. From Tuesday 22 to Monday 28 January we’ll be joining with the ACRE Network of rural development charities to celebrate the impact of village halls and similar community venues.

In particular, we want to show how village halls help to tackle social isolation, giving people a local venue for activities from lunch clubs and support groups to exercise classes and film shows.

How you can get involved

Tell us what’s happening at your venue! We’d love to use your hall in our publicity around Village Halls Week so please let us know what’s going on from 22 to 28 Jan. Events open to the public in general are perfect, but we’d love to hear about anything that’s aimed at reducing people’s feelings of isolation and loneliness. Call 01962 857358 or email us.

We’ve got a poster template that we can add details of your events to, and you are welcome to download the image above for inclusion in your own publicity materials, on your website etc.

If you’re feeling enthused, you could plan an open event for Village Halls Week – perhaps a coffee morning or cheese and wine evening. This will give people an opportunity to come in and see the facilities you have, and maybe then they’ll try out one of the activities that you host or hire your hall for their next event.

Finally, if you know people who are into geocaching then they might like to get involved in the village hall series of geocaches which are being placed across the country.

  • Pamber parish council were really pleased with the support provided by Action Hampshire’s Rural Housing Enabler helping us through the development process. It was a good experience.

    Chris Goss, Pamber Parish Council
  • Action Hampshire has always been a useful font of information for us at Winchester Churches Nightshelter. Sue has always been really helpful, and I do find the updates from the ‘wider’ world to be of interest.

    Michèle Price, Winchester Churches Nightshelter
  • Having Action Hampshire as a point of reference, support and guidance is invaluable for small to medium sized charities like ourselves. Without them, we would be far less connected and less able to serve our beneficiaries in a meaningful and coordinated way.

Juno Hollyhock, The Rose Road Association
  • I have found Action Hampshire to be truly innovative and forward thinking in their approach to their work and their passion for the voluntary and community sector is easily measured through their work to help improve the lives of all sections of the community.

Grant Cornwell, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation
  • Action Hampshire are the most fantastic organisation and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with them. They are very positive and easy to work with, from Rachel’s warmth on the front desk all the way up to Sue’s vast knowledge and experience on the top floor.

    George Scott-Welsh, IncuHive
