Training for community halls and centres

Grant applications and fundraising

  • Are you trying to raise funds for a refurbishment or extension to your building?
  • Do you want to get a new activity started but don’t have the money you need?
  • Would you like to review your hiring and marketing approach to make sure you are maximising your income and getting good use from your building?

Come to our Funding Your Community Building session in February and we’ll help you get going with your fundraising plans. The last time we ran this session, last October, 7 of the 10 participants rated it as ‘excellent’ and the other 3 as ‘good’. People said the session was very informative and found it useful to share ideas and ask questions.

Date: Tuesday 26 February
Time: 10:00am-12:30pm
Venue: Action Hampshire’s office in central Winchester

Places cost £35 each for Action Hampshire members or £50 for non-members. Please download the form below, complete it on your computer, and email it to us; details are on the form itself and we’ll invoice you later.

Action Learning – a free pilot programme

Would you like to take part in a FREE series of training sessions to help you reflect on and improve your work as a trustee or centre manager?

We want to find 5 people from community halls and centres to take part in a pilot programme of around 4 half-day sessions using the Action Learning framework. Action Learning is a way of learning from your fellow participants through thoughtful questioning, reflective listening, and wise problem-solving.

At Action Hampshire we’ve been using Action Learning for several years with our School for Social Entrepreneurs – there’s a short video to explain here. We want to try it out with a different group of participants and we think it could really help you to reflect on and find solutions to some of the ongoing issues you might have with your building and organisation.

We’d like to start in March or April (with the block of four sessions finishing by the summer), so please get in touch if you’re interested or would like to know more. We know Action Learning is unfamiliar to most people so don’t hesitate to ask us for more information! Please email Kevin Sawers or call 01962 857358.

  • Pamber parish council were really pleased with the support provided by Action Hampshire’s Rural Housing Enabler helping us through the development process. It was a good experience.

    Chris Goss, Pamber Parish Council
  • Action Hampshire has always been a useful font of information for us at Winchester Churches Nightshelter. Sue has always been really helpful, and I do find the updates from the ‘wider’ world to be of interest.

    Michèle Price, Winchester Churches Nightshelter
  • Having Action Hampshire as a point of reference, support and guidance is invaluable for small to medium sized charities like ourselves. Without them, we would be far less connected and less able to serve our beneficiaries in a meaningful and coordinated way.

Juno Hollyhock, The Rose Road Association
  • I have found Action Hampshire to be truly innovative and forward thinking in their approach to their work and their passion for the voluntary and community sector is easily measured through their work to help improve the lives of all sections of the community.

Grant Cornwell, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation
  • Action Hampshire are the most fantastic organisation and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with them. They are very positive and easy to work with, from Rachel’s warmth on the front desk all the way up to Sue’s vast knowledge and experience on the top floor.

    George Scott-Welsh, IncuHive
