Rural Community Ownership awards 2018
Does your organisation make life better in your rural community? Then take a look at the Plunkett Foundation’s awards to celebrate Rural Community Ownership.
Community ownership and the idea of communities doing things for themselves are growing in national significance, so it would be great to have several Hampshire applicants for these awards. Six categories have been set so there should be something for all kinds of community business.
Village / community halls – don’t be put off by the phrase ‘community business’! Organisations like yours that hire out facilities for others to use are normally thought of as a community business, even if you’re charitable and don’t make private profit (in the way that conventional businesses do). There’s more info about what being a community business is all about on the Power to Change website.
The deadline for applications is Friday 14 September.
Newsflash Research looking at whether village halls and similar organisations think of themselves as community businesses has just been published. Read the results for yourself and look out for a report in our next news bulletin.
