Member of the Month // The Sheiling Ringwood

The Sheiling Ringwood is set in a stunning, sustainable 40 acre site and provides a rich, enabling learning environment for up to 80 school and college students aged 6 -25 who have a special educational need. We specialise in autism and communication difficulties, severe and complex learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.

‘’Our mission is to create an educational, therapeutic community and environment which upholds each person’s human integrity and spiritual wholeness and where every child and young person, both because of despite their individual challenges, has something to give and something to learn through all of their relationships with others.’’

Corine van Barneveld (Principal)

Providing 38 to 52-week placements including day, weekly, termly and 52-week boarders. We offer a broad, balanced, developmental curriculum covering all the subjects in the national curriculum.

We have a team of capable, qualified and highly trained staff with small class sizes and intensive support plus an onsite therapy team. This includes Speech, Language and Occupational therapy, along with individualised therapy programmes (inspired by Rudolf Steiner) and a dedicated Behaviour Support team.

There is a large, multi-purpose hall with a stage for gatherings and performances, a gym hall, heated indoor swimming pool and purpose-built therapy and music buildings. Around the estate are a variety of indoor and outdoor craft workshops and ‘The Sheiling Garden’, where the students can learn and help with gardening.

We offer our students a range of real-life based learning opportunities which match their interests, skills and aspirations. The curriculum allows students to make choices about their learning with the intention of promoting independence and confidence for adult life.

Our organisation works in Hampshire and Dorset and we take students from educational authorities across the U.K. Visit our website for more information.

On Saturday 29th June, from 11.30 – 4.00, we have our annual Summer Festival.

  • Pamber parish council were really pleased with the support provided by Action Hampshire’s Rural Housing Enabler helping us through the development process. It was a good experience.

    Chris Goss, Pamber Parish Council
  • Action Hampshire has always been a useful font of information for us at Winchester Churches Nightshelter. Sue has always been really helpful, and I do find the updates from the ‘wider’ world to be of interest.

    Michèle Price, Winchester Churches Nightshelter
  • Having Action Hampshire as a point of reference, support and guidance is invaluable for small to medium sized charities like ourselves. Without them, we would be far less connected and less able to serve our beneficiaries in a meaningful and coordinated way.

Juno Hollyhock, The Rose Road Association
  • I have found Action Hampshire to be truly innovative and forward thinking in their approach to their work and their passion for the voluntary and community sector is easily measured through their work to help improve the lives of all sections of the community.

Grant Cornwell, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation
  • Action Hampshire are the most fantastic organisation and it has been a pleasure to collaborate with them. They are very positive and easy to work with, from Rachel’s warmth on the front desk all the way up to Sue’s vast knowledge and experience on the top floor.

    George Scott-Welsh, IncuHive
