What is a LEP?
The government defines Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) as: “partnerships between local authorities and businesses. They decide what the priorities should be for investment in roads, buildings and facilities in the area”. However, some LEPs also include the not-for-profit sector.
There are two LEPs in Hampshire:
Solent LEP includes southern Hampshire up to and including Winchester and Eastleigh, the unitary authority areas of Portsmouth, Southampton, the Isle of Wight.
Enterprise M3 LEP (also known as EM3 LEP) covers the M3 corridor from the New Forest across Hampshire and into the south-west corner of Surrey.
EM3 LEP has stated its intention to work with the not-for-profit sector within its area and has signed a memorandum of understanding with both Action Hampshire and Surrey Community Action, which act as conduits to the wider sector across the area. The not-for-profit sector has representation on the board of EM3 LEP and on its sub-groups.
