Royal British Legion grants to support the armed forces community

11.11.15

The Royal British Legion’s External Grants Scheme is accepting applications from organisations running, or planning, charitable activities in support of the armed forces community. It is intended to fund specialised projects or services for serving and/or ex-Service personnel and/or their families that are not already being provided by the Legion and that are in line with the Legion’s funding priorities, which are:

  • employment and training
  • family support
  • homelessness and outreach
  • supporting the elderly

In order to apply, charitable organisations must have been operating for at least two years and share the aims and objectives of the Legion.

Although the maximum grant available is £50,000, most grants will be for smaller amounts. The money could be used for:

  • projects that are a particular time-limited activity
  • a support or welfare service
  • capital projects such as building a facility or buying equipment

There is a two-stage application process, with Stage One requiring a short expression of interest. The 2016 deadlines for Stage One applications are 26 February, 31 May, 31 August, and 30 November.

Please go to the Royal British Legion website for further information and to apply.
