Funding // HCC Adult Social Care: Community-Based Support Grant
Hampshire County Council (HCC) is searching for organisations to develop and deliver a community-based support service in Winchester and Gosport.
The community-based support service will
- support older people on the cusp of care within their local communities
- be based in a local venue which will act as a hub for the local community
- include services such as befriending, support for carers, services which keep people in contact, transport and meals, social activities and wellbeing services.
The grant offered for developing and delivering this service £58,000 per year for a maximum of 2 years (April 2018 to March 2020). HCC’s website states “The level of grant funding proposed is a contribution towards the development of these schemes and ideally accounts for approximately 34% of a schemes operational costs at the outset.”
Organisations will not normally be eligible for grants where they hold unallocated reserves in excess of one year’s running costs, or where it is judged that these reserves are unreasonably in excess of what is required or not allocated for legitimate purposes. Those organisations receiving recurring funding which hold unallocated reserves in excess of three months’ running costs may receive a reduced grant.
HCC envisage that this model will eventually be replicated in each of the 11 districts in Hampshire with a key worker organising each scheme. Volunteers will provide the majority of hands on services and there will be a voluntary membership fee paid by people to access the scheme. Although this development is initially planned to support older people in the community, in time it is envisaged that this type of support will be available to all people in the community.
