Protect your telephone system against fraud


With the Easter Holidays fast approaching (or already started for the lucky few), now is a good time for organisations which close over this period to take some precautions against PBX fraud.

The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau has seen a significant rise in the number of reports made in relation to this type of fraud. Around 6% of these reports relate to a school or college, although this is only based on what is reported and the figure could be much higher.

The losses involved can be high, especially when they are made during times that an organisation may be closed, for example during the night, public holidays and/or weekends. During this period it is likely that the fraudulent calls will go unnoticed until the telephone bill arrives.
