Children and Young People // Short Breaks consultation
Short Break Activities Programme provides support to parents or carers of children and young people with disabilities.
Short Breaks has a budget of £3million. Hampshire County Council (HCC) Children’s Services Department propose that £1million could be achieved through the reshaping of the current Short Break Activities Programme.
HCC is seeking views on proposals to change its Short Break Activities Programme. The consultation opened on Monday 12 March and will close at midnight on Sunday 3 June 2018.
There are a total of 9 proposals relating to:
- eligibility and access
- reform of the Gateway card system
- bring the Short Break Activities Programme in line with statutory requirements
- define a short break.
The changes could be effective from April 2019 onwards. In addition to public events and focus groups of young people, two events have been arranged to help providers of short break activities find out more about the consultation proposals. Booking is required to attend these events. Please contact [email protected]. The events will be held on 9th and 15th May at Winchester Discovery Centre.
