This week’s blog is from Rosie our Office Manager who wrote it just as we came back from Easter.
It’s back to work today after the Easter break and four days of indulgence in hot cross buns and chocolate. I hopefully burnt off some of the calories though by doing a 10 mile walk from Hinton Ampner (a National Trust property near Alresford – well worth a visit) back to Winchester. I enjoy a good long walk, as long as there are refreshment stops along the way, preferably in the form of a tea room or pub. I scanned my partner’s Ordnance Survey map before we set off and, sure enough, there was a blue pint of beer sign (indicating a pub) en route. We set off in buoyant mood, the sun shining, the temperature just right, and the thought of a nice cool glass of white wine on the horizon.
Two hours into the walk and we arrived at said pub to find a ‘closed sign’ and the doors firmly shut. To use an Easter analogy, I was not a happy bunny!
Fortunately, Action Hampshire is well and truly open for business!
Coming up on 26 April is our Trustee Forum which we’re running with Community First Wessex. This has proved so popular, that we’re now fully booked. You can still join the waiting list though by going to our Eventbrite page
Thursday, 18 May at Winchester School of Art, sees us relaunching our membership offer and showcasing our diverse range of work at our Spring Conference. You’ll be able to hear from past and present students on our School for Social Entrepreneurs, find out more about the inspiring work of our Rural Housing Enablers and much more. And there will be wine and nibbles provided by social enterprise, Lily and Lime. For more details and to book, just email me or give me a ring on 01962 854971.
What have I got on the horizon as Office Manager over the coming months? Well, firstly, we’re recruiting for a new Administrator as Helena our fantastic Administrator is heading off to the wilds of the open plan office on the second floor to become our new Research Assistant. So if you, or someone you know, fancies working for a friendly, forward thinking organisation, doing a whole range of interesting tasks, then all the details can be found on our website
We’ve also got lots of bookings for our meeting rooms at our office in central Winchester. We’ve got two rooms available for hire – our smaller Seminar Room, perfect for smaller meetings and our larger Conference Room, which can seat up to 55 people. Both rooms come fully equipped with electronic white boards and projectors, making presentations a breeze. Our website has all the details – feel free to have a look!
