“Action Hampshire has supported us every step of the way with good business advice and contacts. You have helped us to sustain our dream and keep on aspiring.” Kerry and Anita (Chaos)
Kerry Whapshott and Anita Usai are parents of young people with learning disabilities. In June 2012 they came to Action Hampshire to discuss their idea to radically change the way that local young people with learning disabilities are supported.
“Right from the initial concept to our launch, Action Hampshire talked through our plans and what we wanted to achieve. We drafted a business plan which you went through with us and wrote all over in red pen! You’ve encouraged us with our vision, and turned our acorns of knowledge combined with our passion and belief into an innovative, exciting project.”
Kerry and Anita now run Chaos, a Havant based organisation providing opportunities, choice and support to young adults with learning disabilities. They run a day centre, support groups, a youth forum, evening and Saturday clubs, and a sibling support group.
“We are parent-led and quite unique. Action Hampshire believed in us from the outset and have been a really big part of making Chaos happen. It was only a year ago that we saw you, and we are now growing in numbers every month and going from strength to strength.”
