“Action Hampshire have been so easy to work with – we’re getting the support we need to run the project effectively. They understand what it is like to work with people who are disadvantaged and in need.” (Jackie and Norman, James Street Church)

Action Hampshire issued grants of between £2,000 and £12,000 to 24 local not-for-profit organisations who are helping people to gain new skills and get paid jobs.

James Street Church in Southampton was awarded £11,136 to run two Choices courses. The courses help disadvantaged people to overcome negativity, and to take control of their own lives.

“The course boosted me. My self-confidence is really growing. It works!” Steve (course participant)

“I couldn’t join in with discussions, I felt like a timid dormouse. This is a safe environment to share our issues and has given me confidence to interact in society.” Ann (course participant)

“Without the funding we wouldn’t have been able to help these people, who often get overlooked because their needs and barriers are hidden, not physical.” Jackie and Norman (course leaders)

Service: Action Hampshire administered the European Social Fund Community Grants scheme in Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight. We helped organisations to apply for the grants and supported them to monitor and evaluate the activities they ran as a result of the grant
