Jacky Charman

Community Development Officer

Jacky has been working in the Voluntary and Community Sector for over 20 years. Jacky’s role is about supporting community groups to help them deliver their essential services to the wider community in Portsmouth. Jacky supports groups with writing their constitutions, with funding searches, networking and assists groups in sourcing volunteers, particularly those that can share their business skills to make the voluntary and community groups stronger and sustainable. Jacky has a Bsc (Hons) in Health Studies and previously worked for 10 years in Rowner, Gosport and was part of the team that helped get the much needed regeneration programme started.

Jacky has been working in the Voluntary and Community Sector for over 20 years and joined Action Hampshire in 2012 as Community Development Officer for Action Portsmouth. Jacky’s role is about supporting community groups to help them deliver their essential services to the wider community in Portsmouth. Working alongside the group, amongst other things, Jacky supports groups with writing their constitutions and ensuring they have all the right policies in place. Jacky also supports groups with funding searches, networking and assists groups in sourcing volunteers, particularly those that can share their business skills to make the voluntary and community groups stronger and sustainable. Jacky has also been a ward Councillor, non-executive director of the Gosport & Fareham PCG. Jacky has a Bsc (Hons) in Health Studies. Before Jacky started working for Action Hampshire she worked for 10 years in Rowner, Gosport and was part of the team that helped get the much needed regeneration programme started, while working in Rowner she opened a one stop help shop, and started Community Carnival.
